Teleprompter

Transparency

Transparency allows you to use CloudPrompter as a 'transparent' teleprompter over the top of any window or desktop on your computer.

For example, if you are taking part in a video call, you can have the video call be visible underneath your teleprompter text, allowing you to read from your script while still seeing the participants in your video call.

Desktop or Laptop Only

Transparency requires your device to be able to share your screen or specific windows on your computer. This feature is usually only available in web browsers on desktop or laptop computers only. This feature will likely not be available on a tablet or smartphone.

Using Transparency

Transparency works by using the screen sharing feature built in to your web browser. This allows two different types of transparent background in the Teleprompter:

  • Single window allows you to put any one of your computer windows as the background in your teleprompter. For example, a browser window with your video call.
  • Full screen allows you to put your entire computer screen as the background in your teleprompter, including your desktop icons and all visible windows.

Transparency Not Working?

Some systems require you to enable screen sharing or screen recording before you can use Transparency in CloudPrompter. Please follow these troubleshooting steps to help resolve any issues. Or contact us for quick support.

Single Window Transparency

We recommend using a single window for Transparency, as it allows you to select exactly which window from your computer is visible through the teleprompter.

For example if you have a web browser window with a video call, or a presentation, or a live stream, you can set only that window to be visible through the teleprompter.

To use single window transparency:

  1. Open your script
  2. Click the Transparency icon in the control bar
  3. Select Screen
  4. Follow the steps in your web browser to select a single window

Your selected window will now appear as the background in your teleprompter, behind your script.

If nothing appears, check you have the correct privacy settings enabled then try again.

Full Screen Transparency

Full screen transparency makes your entire computer screen visible through the teleprompter. For example, if you have a second monitor connected, you can have your entire second monitor visible through the teleprompter.

Everything is visible

When you select to share your entire screen, everything on your selected screen will be visible through the teleprompter, including all windows and desktop icons, and even your CloudPrompter teleprompter window, which can lead to a confusing or unwanted infinity window effect. In most cases, we recommend using single window for transparency.

To use full screen transparency:

  1. Open your script
  2. Click the Transparency icon in the control bar
  3. Select Screen
  4. Follow the steps in your web browser to select your screen

Your selected computer screen will now appear as the background in your teleprompter, behind your script.

If nothing appears, check you have the correct privacy settings enabled then try again.

Broadcast Transparency

You can also use Transparency in a Broadcast. This allows all of the same Transparency options above when viewing a broadcast.

Privacy

When using Transparency, your shared windows or screens are not streamed, uploaded or recorded to any server. The entire Transparency feature runs entirely locally in your web browser only.
