Remote Control

You can scroll the teleprompter text using a controller, such as a keyboard, gaming controller or handheld presentation remote. You can use controllers to start/stop Auto Scrolling, or to manually scroll the text.

Controller Types

CloudPrompter is compatible with two types of controllers:

• Keyboard type controllers (any controller that can send keyboard inputs to your computer or device)
• Gaming controllers

This means that you can control the CloudPrompter teleprompter with many different controllers, including, bluetooth keyboards, gaming controllers (like XBOX or PlayStation controllers), handheld presentation controllers, foot pedals and more.

You can also use Broadcasts as a pseudo remote control from another computer, tablet or smartphone.

Keyboard type controllers

You can use any controller that can send keyboard inputs to your computer or device as a controller for the teleprompter in CloudPrompter.

Confirmed compatible controllers

The following keyboard type devices are confirmed compatible with CloudPrompter, in addition to any normal keyboard:

Connecting a keyboard type controller

To connect a keyboard type controller to CloudPrompter, you must first pair the controller with the computer, tablet or smartphone that you're using CloudPrompter on. Follow the normal steps for pairing a new bluetooth device.

We recommend the following steps:

1. Pair the controller with the computer, tablet or smartphone that you're using CloudPrompter on. Follow the normal steps for pairing a new bluetooth device.
2. Using a blank note or text document, confirm that your new controller is correctly sending keyboard inputs to your computer, tablet or smartphone. Pressing the buttons on your controller should type various characters or navigate the cursor.

Gaming controllers

You can use any compatible gaming controller as a controller for the teleprompter in CloudPrompter.

Confirmed compatible controllers

In general, most PC compatible gaming controllers will be compatible with CloudPrompter. If you're using a tablet or smartphone, check that your controller is compatible with your device.

The following gaming controllers are confirmed compatible with CloudPrompter:

Connecting a gaming controller

To connect a gaming controller to CloudPrompter, you must first pair the controller with the computer, tablet or smartphone that you're using CloudPrompter on. Follow the normal steps for pairing a new bluetooth device, or gaming controller.

Assigning buttons/inputs

CloudPrompter allows you to customise the buttons or inputs for your controller, allowing you to select which button on your controller performs which action in the teleprompter.

The following teleprompter actions are able to be assigned to any buttons on your controller:

• Start/Stop Scrolling
• Page Forward
• Page Backwards
• Reset to Top
• Increase Scroll Speed (+1)
• Increase Scroll Speed (+10)
• Decrease Scroll Speed (-1)
• Decrease Scroll Speed (-10)
• Next Cue Point
• Previous Cue Point
• Increase Font Size
• Decrease Font Size

To customise which buttons on your keyboard type controller perform which action, follow these steps:

1. Open any script in CloudPrompter
2. Click the settings icon t the bottom
3. For keyboard type controllers: Go to Keyboard Control and enable the option
   For gaming controllers: Go to Gamepad Control and enable the option
4. Select/click the field for the action you'd like to assign a button to
5. For keyboard type controllers: Press the button on your controller to assign that input to the action
   For gaming controllers: select the gamepad button from the dropdown menu
6. Click Save

Your input assignments will apply to all scripts.

Broadcasts pseudo remote control

You can create a Broadcast as a pseudo remote control, allowing you to use one host computer, tablet or smartphone, to control the teleprompter on other devices over the Cloud. This will allow you to control the text scrolling, adjust the settings like text size and colours, as well as make text edits to the script remotely from one device.

To use a Broadcast to control other devices:

On your "controller" computer, tablet or smartphone:

1. Open your script in CloudPrompter
2. Start a Broadcast of this script

On your "receiver" computer(s), tablet(s) or smartphone(s):

1. Open the Broadcast URL that you created on your "controller" computer

You will now be able to control the teleprompter on all of your "receiver" computer(s), tablet(s) or smartphone(s) remotely from your "controller" computer, tablet or smartphone.
