Broadcasts

Using Broadcasts

How to use Broadcasts in CloudPrompter to share a realtime Teleprompter with anyone in the world.

Hosts and Viewers

To begin, it's important to understand that Broadcasts have one Host, and one or many Viewers.

  • Host
The Host is the computer or device which has the script open and is able to scroll the text and make edits. There should only be one Host.
  • Viewer
A Viewer is any computer or device that has opened the broadcast URL, viewing the realtime teleprompter output from the Host. There can be many Viewers.

The Host should be the operator of the teleprompter. The Host can control the scrolling, make edits to the text, adjust the text size and more. Viewers will see a realtime 1-to-1 representation of the Teleprompter on the Host computer or device.

Viewers will see any changes that the Host makes in realtime.

Text Layout

The layout of the text is determined by the Host computer or device.

Window Size & Shape

The size and shape of the Host's browser window will also determine the size and shape of the text window for all broadcast Viewers. The Broadcast will automatically scale the text to fit the Viewers' window.

Text Size & Layout

The size of the text, or font size, is determined by the text size of the script on the Host computer or device. Also consider how the text will be scaled for your Viewers.

You can change the size of the text in two ways:

  • Adjust the text size in the script settings
Changes to the size of the text in your script will automatically update for your Broadcast Viewers. How to change the size of the text in your script →
  • Adjust the size of the Host window
Adjusting the size of the Host window will change how the text is scaled for Broadcast Viewers. In general, a smaller Host window will display larger text for viewers.

Colours

The background colour and text colour are ultimately controlled by the Host device or computer. Broadcast Viewers can temporarily change the background colour and/or text colour for their own window.

Change the colours for all Viewers

The Host can adjust the background colour and text colour for all Broadcast Viewers:

Host updates affect all Viewers

When a Broadcast Host updates any colours, this will revert the background/font colours that any individual Viewers have set.

Change the colours for your Broadcast view

Broadcast Viewers can change the background colour and text colour for their own view:

  1. Go to your Broadcast URL
  2. Click the colours option colours button button at the top right
  3. Adjust the colours

Viewer colour changes only affect their own view

Any colour changes made within broadcast will only apply to this current broadcast window. The Host and other Viewers will be unaffected.

Text Mirroring

You can mirror or flip the text in a Broadcast to making it readable through a professional Teleprompter mirror-rig.

The Host's mirroring setting will not be sent to Broadcast Viewers, allowing the Host to mirror their text while Broadcast viewers are unaffected.

Broadcast Viewers can enable text mirroring individually for their own Broadcast window.

Enable text mirroring

To enable text mirroring in a Broadcast view:

  1. Go to your Broadcast URL
  2. Click either of the mirroring option buttons at the top:
    • Mirror Vertically Teleprompter mirror vertical button
    • Mirror Horizontally Teleprompter mirror horizontal button

Transparency

Broadcast Viewers can enable Transparency, which allows you to use CloudPrompter as a 'transparent' teleprompter over the top of any window or desktop on your computer.

Transparency is only visible to you

Transparency is only visible to you in the current window. Other windows including the Host and other Broadcast Viewers will not see the transparency background.
